Youth Sports, Summer Camps, and Child Development Through Movement

Have questions about CORE? Here you’ll find answers about our youth sports programs, summer camps, coaching approach, age groups, school partnerships, and how we help kids build confidence, character, friendships, and athletic skills.

About CORE

What is CORE Athletic Training?

CORE Athletic Training is an Orange County youth sports and enrichment organization that uses sports, movement, and coaching to help kids grow on and off the field.

Our programs help children build athletic skills, confidence, character, friendships, sportsmanship, teamwork, and resilience in a fun, supportive environment.

What does “Where Movement Has Meaning” mean?

At CORE, movement is more than exercise. Every game, challenge, drill, and coach-led moment is an opportunity for kids to practice teamwork, communication, leadership, respect, resilience, and confidence.

Sports are the vehicle. Growth is the goal.

What makes CORE different from other youth sports programs?

CORE combines active sports programming with small-group coaching, character development, and social-emotional learning.

Instead of focusing only on performance or competition, CORE helps kids feel supported, included, challenged, and proud of their progress.

What is social-emotional learning, and how does CORE use it?

Social-emotional learning helps kids develop skills like self-awareness, communication, empathy, teamwork, decision-making, and resilience.

At CORE, these skills are taught naturally through games, team challenges, coach-led conversations, and everyday program moments.

Camps, Ages & Programs

What ages does CORE serve?

CORE offers programs for kids ages 3.5–12, depending on the program.

Some programs are designed for younger campers, while others support older kids who are ready for more advanced sports, training, and team challenges.

Is CORE a good fit if my child is new to sports?

Yes. CORE programs are designed to be welcoming for kids of all skill levels.

Children do not need to be experienced athletes to participate. Our coaches meet kids where they are and help them build confidence, movement skills, friendships, and a positive relationship with sports.

What types of activities do kids do at CORE?

CORE programs may include team sports, cooperative games, relay races, movement challenges, agility activities, sport-specific games, fitness stations, themed camp games, and coach-led team challenges.

Activities are designed to be active, age-appropriate, engaging, and fun.

What summer camp options does CORE offer?

CORE offers Summer Athletics Camp for kids 3.5-12, who want an active, fun, confidence-building summer filled with sports, games, teamwork, friendships, and coach-led fun.

CORE also offers Summer Sports Performance Camp for kids 6-12, who want to improve speed, agility, strength, explosiveness, coordination, confidence, and overall athletic performance.

Does CORE offer a half-day camp option for younger campers?

Yes. Summer Athletics Camp offers a half-day option from 9:00am–12:00pm for younger campers ages 3.5–5.5.

This is a great option for preschool-age campers who are ready for movement, games, friendships, and coach-led camp fun in a shorter day.

What is the coach-to-kid ratio?

Many CORE programs use a 1:5 coach-to-kid ratio, allowing coaches to provide more attention, encouragement, and support.

Summer Sports Performance Camp uses a 1:4 coach-to-kid ratio to support more focused training and real-time feedback.

Coaching, Safety & Child Development

Who leads CORE programs?

CORE programs are led by experienced coaches, educators, and mentors who care deeply about youth development.

Our coaches focus on helping kids feel safe, supported, included, and challenged in a positive way.

How does CORE help kids build confidence?

CORE helps kids build confidence through active participation, positive coaching, small wins, teamwork, and opportunities to try new things in a supportive environment.

Kids are encouraged to keep trying, celebrate effort, support others, and feel proud of their progress.

How does CORE support character development?

CORE uses sports and movement to teach values like respect, sportsmanship, teamwork, communication, resilience, empathy, and leadership.

Coaches use real moments during games and activities to help kids practice these skills in a way they can understand and apply.

Is CORE only for competitive athletes?

No. CORE welcomes kids with a wide range of athletic abilities, interests, and confidence levels.

Some children come to CORE because they love sports. Others come because they need a fun, supportive place to move, connect, and build confidence.
