CORE Program Development Specialist & Coach

We are on the lookout for an exceptional individual to serve in this newly created hybrid role. In your remote “office”, you will work with our management team to refine our programs, while as a Coach, you will have a direct positive impact on children’s lives. Description:

This is a hybrid role that requires a comprehensive understanding of all CORE programs and the ability to perform duties of a Junior Coach (see below) at minimum, in addition to the newly created function of Program Development Specialist.

Program Development

  • Develop new programs and improve existing programs in partnership with Director of Program Development

Program Management

  • Create and/or organize various Coach resources and program documents (i.e. Program & Event Calendar, Games Glossary, Lesson Plans, Rosters, etc.)

Program Operations

  • Oversee program inventory

    • Manage equipment levels

    • Ensure appropriate equipment is available for scheduled programs

    • Order new equipment as needed

  • Ensure lesson plans are followed and executed by program leads

  • Ensure Coach debriefs and Coach collaboration is occurring before and after each program

  • Ensure quality control (that programs are executed to meet the CORE
    standards of excellence)

  • Ensure the Coaching Team is continuously making efforts to improve program operations, execution, and client satisfaction

Staff Development (in collaboration with Director of Program Development)

  • Collaborate with Human Resources to recruit new Coaches, CITs, and Field Study Interns

    • Recommend potential listing boards

    • Reach out to existing community contacts and partners

    • Suggest new strategies to increase qualified applicant applications

  • Grow and oversee the Coach in Training (CIT) and University Field Study / Internship Programs

    • Observe current operations to garner helpful insights

    • Offer ideas to aid in the improvement, development and growth of both programs 

  • Improve Coach training systems

    • Assess and provide feedback on existing Coach training systems 

    • Provide new ideas on ways to enhance and track Coach growth

  • Identify ways to increase coach retention 

  • Oversee Coach social events 

    • Create a calendar of events

    • Secure location, if necessary

    • Plan activities

    • Order food / beverage, if necessary

    • Manage set budget

  • Provide ideas and insight for organizational growth

Social Media

  • Grow and maintain CORE’s presence across all social media platforms (ie. Instagram, Facebook, YouTube)

  • Make suggestions to help increase followers and engagement

Junior Coach Responsibilities:

Coaches assist in day-to-day lesson planning, coordinating program logistics, implementing sports tasks, teaching lessons, and evaluating the effectiveness of our programs. CORE Coaches are go-getters and team-players, who exude a positive and enthusiastic attitude towards their role and responsibilities. We look for outgoing personalities that embody the CORE philosophy and values. NOTE: this position requires moderate physical activity including participation in demonstrations, games, and drills; and, regularly handling equipment and carrying or lifting up to 50 lbs.

  • Understand CORE Brand: philosophy, values, and primary offerings

  • Embody CORE brand: be a CORE brand ambassador, lead by example

  • Understand basic program operations

    • Introduction and program expectations 

    • Set up and rules of CORE games

    • Skill development

    • Closing– CORE Kid of the Day

  • Support Lead Coach in program operations 

    • Help gain and maintain control of participants

    • Aid with transitions between activities

    • Handle participant fire drills 

    • Step in for lead when necessary

  • Take direction and initiative to ensure CORE programs run smoothly

  • Coaching Abilities 

    • Able to connect with all age groups

    • Adjust communication to fit development age, skill level & experience of participants

    • Participate in CKOTD decisions

  • Employee Responsibilities

    • Effectively communicate with the management team

    • Adhere to availability and scheduling protocols 

    • Be reliable and dependable

Required Coaching Programs / Week: 2 Weekday + 1 Weekend

Preferred Prerequisites:

  • Experience Playing Sports: basketball, soccer, baseball, football, or lacrosse preferred

  • Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certification

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Suite Applications

  • Familiarity with Social & Digital Media Platforms

  • Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills

  • Highly Organized with the Ability to Multitask

  • Strong Time Management Skills
