Keep Your Halloween Spirits on High
Halloween is just around the corner, and while we aren’t sure exactly what it will be like, we know it won’t be the same trick or treat mayhem as last year. That does not mean, however, that we can’t still have the same amount of fun! Check out our ideas on how to keep your spirits on high this Halloween!
4 Fun & Easy Games for a Goulishly Good Time
Some of the best activities are the ones that require very little equipment or set up, and these 4 fit that bill. In fact, they are so fun and easy even the zombies dust off the dirt to come and play! Plus, each activity can be played with as few as two people, so they’re perfect for any sized family, whether you have one little goblin or a whole pack of werewolves! After trying out these wicked games, let us know which one helped your little ghoul run off their sugar high.
1. Halloween Monster Relay Race: Use a large space like a backyard or living room to create your arena. Set up a starting line and then space out a line of 4-5 cones or random house items far away from the start. Assign each section between the cone/house item a different monster that the participants need to imitate. Here are some fun ideas the kids always love:
Zombie march: hands are outstretched and feet must come up to touch your fingers each step
Werewolf crawl: on your hands and feet, crawl and howl from one cone to the next
Vampire flight: run from one cone to the next pumping your arms like a bat in flight
Headless Horseman/Pumpkin Roll: somersault from one cone to the next
Witch ride: leave a broom at the cone and have them ride it to the last marker, circle back and drop it off at the first cone
Once you’ve completed all of the monster moves, run back to the next person in line so they can begin their turn. The first team to have everyone complete the relay and sit down together wins!
2. Halloween Freeze Tag: Separate the group into two teams. Each team will either be the “taggers” or the “rescuers”. The taggers have 2 minutes to try and freeze all of the rescuers. Whenever someone is frozen, their teammates must try to unfreeze them with a gentle tap. If everyone is frozen before time is up, the taggers win. If someone is still running around before time is called, victory goes to the rescuers! Here are a couple of team theme ideas:
Wizards and Witches
Superheroes and Supervillains
Vampires and Werewolves
Black Cats and Ghosts
Pumpkins and Ghouls
Cowboys and Ninjas
3. Harry Potter Spider Web Balance: Escape from Aragog’s massive forest web! Create a “spider web” using duct tape by placing intersecting lines all over the floor. While riding a broomstick, participants have to quickly race from one end of the web to the other without falling off the lines. You can make this game more challenging by adding obstacles, moving obstacles into the air, or using large pieces of furniture to create a “venomous web” of lines.
4. Ghost Sack Race. A Halloween twist on a classic favorite; decorate pillow cases to look like ghosts and hop into a spooky sack race!
Halloween is one of the coolest days of the year because there are so many fun activities that you can do in or out of the house, with large groups or your closest buddies, and best of all--endless treats. Whether your group goes out in search of candy or stays home to watch movies and play games, we hope you all have a Spook-tacular Halloween this year!
